Return Policy
We want you to love what you buy. Our return policy differs depending on where you are located.
United States & Non-EU International Customers
- We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days starting from the day you placed your order to request a return.
- Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
Coverage
- Items that are defective, damaged, or our mistake, are covered. A prepaid shipping label will be provided to you after approval.
- If your return is not defective, damaged, or our mistake, it is considered preferential. In this case you will be responsible for the cost of shipping the item back to us.
- There are no fees for returns, but we retain the right to impose a fee not exceeding 15% of the refund amount for processing & cleaning expenses.
- Certain types of items cannot be returned, like custom products (such as special orders or personalized items). Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.
Please note if a return is missing components, you will be notified before the return is processed.
Item Return Conditions
- To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
Odd Scenarios
- If your shipping box appears damaged and/or tampered with during shipping, please note this on your return. We encourage you to take pictures of such scenarios before opening the package.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.

Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.
Start Return
- To start a return, you can either use the self service in your account or contact us at return@thewritingnook.net.
- If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.
Self Service Instructions
- Click the profile icon in the top right corner or here.
- Log in to your account.
- Click the order that you want to submit the return for.
- If your order has more than one item, then select the items that you want to return.
- Select a return reason and add a note for the store.
- Click Request Return.
- That's it! We will contact you as soon as we have had the opportunity to review your request.

European Union Customers (including Belgium and all other EU countries)
Under EU consumer law you have stronger rights that apply instead of the 30-day policy above:
• 14-day Right of Withdrawal (cooling-off period):
- You may cancel your order for any reason within 14 days from the day you (or someone you nominated) receive the goods. Contact us at return@thewritingnook.net or use the self-service return in your account.
- You will be refunded the full price paid for the product(s) + the original standard shipping cost + any handling fee charged at checkout. You are responsible for paying the cost to return the item to us.
- The item must be returned unused, in its original condition, with all tags and original packaging.
• 2-year Legal Guarantee:
- If the item is faulty, defective, or not as described, you have up to 2 years from the delivery date to contact us.
- We will repair or replace it free of charge (including a prepaid return label where appropriate), or refund you if repair/replacement is not possible.
- All other return conditions (original packaging, proof of purchase, etc.) still apply. Custom or personalized items remain non-returnable.
Duties, VAT & Import Taxes (all international orders)
If you had to pay any duties, VAT, or import taxes when your package arrived, simply send us a photo or copy of the receipt. We will issue store credit for the full amount you paid.
General Notes
• We do not accept returns on items that are marked final sale or that fall under the exceptions listed above.
• Refunds are processed to your original payment method within 5–10 business days after we receive and inspect the returned item.

Canadian & International Orders
International shipping options and rates vary greatly. Please see the options available to you at checkout; the price is calculated in real time.
Important: Orders to Canada, the EU, and all other countries may be subject to import duties, taxes (including VAT/GST/HST), customs fees, and/or brokerage fees payable on delivery. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility and are not included in the price at checkout.
We have no control over these amounts; they depend on the value of your order, the country you’re in, and local customs rules.
If you receive any such charges and later return the item (and the return is approved), send us a photo or copy of the receipt and we will issue store credit for the full amount.
